there are so many files required to run windows that it makes it impossible idetify the function of the file.

This alone makes it easier for a hacker to invade the PC.

They can even add items to the registery that corrupt the system.  One objective in developing the operating system

would be to reduce the number of files required while increasing its funcionality.

Adding to the registery should be estricted to the computer operator not some one allowed through the fire wall.

Thanks for listening to my babble.  Frank

I am assuming before you upgraded to Windows 7 you ran the upgrade advisor tool(www.microsoft.com/.../upgrade-advisor.aspx) . Did it tell you that your older pieces of software would run on Windows 7?

What were the results? If the upgrade advisor told you these pieces of software would work, they should work.

I have encountered numerous problems. I wondered if it was the new Norton or the windows 7....so I turned off most features in norton. I am having problems in Foxfire that I don't have when I switch to Explorer. I am also having problems in both.....with....can't get online radio station to play, can't get my address book in blue mountain to open ....can't download my software for my Resonant Field Imaging device ..etc. etc.Hey I need this to work! I skipped vista and stayed with XP...now I have new HP with i7 processor and windows 7 64bit and I wish I was back with XP where everything worked!I have very sophisticated biofeedback software that I am afraid to even attempt to use with this system. These are just a few of the glitches I have encountered. What gives? Seems like every little move is a big deal. I now wish I had made my move to a MAC........

Cosmo,

Haveing 64 bit windows has nothing to do with being able to view this site or any other. Windows 7 64 bit would only effect drivers and software that you install. Your inability to view videos on You Tube would be based on your video settings and browser plug ins. It has nothing to do with your Operating System.

I use windows 7 and I haven't encountered any of these issue's.

I would however like to see in the next product cycle of Windows the scrapping of the whole start menu and the implementing of a more advanced folder menu that includes most of the actions of the start menu on the new library folder Icon on the task bar. All in all I am liking the new windows 7 very much. Good job guys!

Christopher,

If you're experiencing difficulty playing the entire video after clicking on the video's title, it may be due to your connection speed. Please note that a broadband connection with 500+ Kbps is required for continuous playback of most video.

If your connection speed is less than 500 Kbps, we suggest that you try playing videos on another system with a higher connection speed. Or, please wait until the entire video finishes buffering before playing the video.

Unfortunately, I still haven't found a answer/solution.  So, Windows 7 will play online videos (e.g. Youtube) for a bit, then stops playing them; in any browser (IE, Firefox, Orca). And if any webpage has a video clip attached, the page stops responding.  My only solution is to restart the computer.  Which only helps for a little bit again.  What is my computer's problem.  just got it in December???
