Absolutely agree with Mitch, the pain of deploying Windows XP in a corporate or large business environment was always a huge challenge.

This was one of the beauties of vista, WDS, Radia, System Centre all deployed it so fast and let admins get on with the job at hand.

Yes i agree that windows 7 is much better than vista. It looks like Vista but its not as complicated as Vista. Its easier to get around and do things in Windows 7

Windows 7 is really good! I thought that it will be just a successor to Windows Vista, But trouble shooting and recovery of applications is so easy like in Windows XP. I prefer Windows 7 than Windows Vista Ultimate

I agree with Steve... the fact that I CAN troubleshoot my system does not mean that I WANT to... I want the system to work first time, every time... and hurry up about it!

Even as a software developer I still care that when my computer turns on, it works just the way I want it to.  Yes, I can fix the majority of problems that arise, but I don't want to.  With Windows 7, I don't have to worry about any of the usual problems.  Spot on explanation, Mitch.

Graham I can't find any record of that laptop on the net, but if it is older then there's a good chance that it predates the Santa-Fe chipset, and 4 Gigs appeared as 3.X Gigs.  As for drivers I have found that if there is a driver for Vista then it will work on Seven... I had an issue with my card reader, but once my BIOS was updated I was able to install it.  I cannot speak to updates slowing down your system... I would make sure that you had good anti-malware running, and that you optimized your Page File!

The "end user" as a whole will never be satisfied. I expect to hear just as many gripes and moans from people about Windows 7 as there were Vista, and even XP when it was released.

As for me, I really like Vista, it runs great on my 6 year old Intel Pentium 4 2.26GHz processer with 2GB RAM. But I'm definitely looking forward to the smaller footprint...and more room for all my data!! Thanks for pointing that out Mitch.
